Minimum subsistence level increased in Chechnya

The minimum subsistence level set up by the Government of the Chechen Republic for the second quarter of 2015 is by more than 1300 roubles higher than in 2014, said the spokesman of the republic's Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Development.

The minimum subsistence level is the amount of foodstuffs and the minimum set of non-food products and set of services, necessary to satisfy the basic needs of citizens.

"On August 26, the republic's Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on establishing the minimum subsistence level. Its average value was set at 7833 roubles; for the working-age population it is 8 660 roubles; for children – 6873 roubles; and for citizens of retirement age – 6667 roubles," a source from the above ministry told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the minimum subsistence level is intended to assess the level of living of the population at drafting and implementing social policies of federal and regional programmes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya declared rise in prices for food and medicines. Thus, in May this year, according to local residents, the rise in meat prices made 4-11%. In March, residents of Chechnya reported a sharp rise in medicine prices.
