NAC confirms murder of Abdul Kurbanov in Novy Khushet

According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the special operation in the neighbourhood of Makhachkala named Novy Khushet resulted in the murder of Abdul Kurbanov, the leader of the "Makhachkala" militant grouping, and two other militants; also, and OMON (riot police) fighter was wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation in the Leninsky District of Makhachkala began on August 23; and tonight three persons were killed near Novy Khushet, namely, Abdul Kurbanov and his subordinates – Magomed Ibragimov and Magomed Abdulkhaliev; and an OMON employee was wounded, said a law enforcement source.

According to the NAC’s spokesman, "the OMON employee was slightly wounded"; nobody of civilians suffered.

The "Interfax" writes quoting its source from the NAC that "in Dagestan, the leader and two bandits from the so-called ‘Makhachkala’ gang have been neutralized. One of them has been pre-identified as Abdul Kurbanov, born in 1985, who had led the ‘Aukh’ grouping and then headed the ‘Makhachkala’ gang."

The NAC asserts that Kurbanov was involved in the murder of the district policeman in Novy Khushet on August 17 and the murder of two OMON fighters and a 14-year-old son of one of them on August 21, the TASS reports.

In March, power agents reported the killing of Islam Magomedov, the leader of the "Makhachkala" grouping of militants. According to law enforcers, Magomedov had been appointed to the post by Arsanali Kambulatov, known as the "Amir" of the Makhachkala sector.
