Policemen detain six demonstrators in Yerevan (+video)
Six persons were brought to the police during a rally held by the public movement "Arise, Armenia!" in Yerevan.
The rally organized by participants of the movement "Arise, Armenia!" began at 7:00 p.m. local time at Republic Square, where the activists are holding the sitting picket, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The first conflict between demonstrators and policemen arose from the fact that the activists brought car tires with them. Other three persons were detained after they run out to the mosaic rug in the centre of Republic Square. The number of the detained activists includes Andreas Gukasyan, a member of the board of the movement "Arise, Armenia!"
The demonstrators have also blocked Vazgen Sargsyan Street, which leads to Republic Square. The policemen forced the activists out of the roadway and formed a living wall, not allowing the activists to take to the roadway.
David Sanasaryan, a member of the board of the movement "Arise, Armenia!", has urged the policemen to "come to their senses" and stop to detain protesters.
