Two residents of Nalchik detained at attempt to leave for Syria
Residents of Nalchik, who tried to leave for Syria, were detained at the Russian-Georgian border and returned to their parents, said a law enforcement source.
According to the source, two residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) "were on their way to Syria aiming to take part in the warfare for the 'Islamic State') IS) (the organization recognized as terrorist in Russia, USA, Turkey and other countries, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")."
According to the source, the young people were detained during passport control at the checkpoint "Verkhni Lars". The policemen of the KBR, called to the checkpoint, contacted the parents of the detained young men.
"The parents were asked whether they knew that their sons wanted to cross the Russian-Georgian border. The parents were surprised. It turned out that they knew nothing about the 'voyage' and plans of their sons," said the source, noting that "the detainees had a large sum of money on them."
According to the source, the young people wanted to reach Turkey from Georgia, and thence to get to Syria.
