"Communists of Russia" complain to General Prosecutor about detention in Sochi

Members of the "Communists of Russia" Party have sent a complaint to the Public General Prosecutor, in which they reported on the detention of deputies and deputy candidates by the Sochi police.

The complaint sent on August 15 was signed by eight activists of the "Communists of Russia" Party.

"On August 14, inSochi, policemen disrupted the meeting with city residents to be held by candidates for deputies of the city assembly from the 'Communists of Russia' Party. At about 3:00 p.m., the policemen detained seven registered deputy candidates from the Party near the City Council, which hosted the meeting with voters... The detainees were not given copies of the detention reports. The policemen refused to explain the detainees on what suspicions and on what basis people were deprived of freedom," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mikhail Abramyan, a member of the Central Committee of the "Communists of Russia" Party, who himself was also among the detainees.

Officials from the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) for the KrasnodarTerritory have confirmed the information about the detention of the party activists. However, the GUVD officials refused to explain the reason why the party activists were detained.
