Safaraliev able to smooth Kremlin's discontent with preparations for Derbent jubilee
Gadjimet Safaraliev, a State Duma MP, who was offered the post of the Acting Mayor of Derbent, is able to hide from Moscow the shortcomings of the preparation process for the celebration of the upcoming jubilee of the city, believe the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". But they disagreed as to the term of Safaraliev's stay in his new post.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 11 the head of Derbent Imam Yaraliev terminated his duties before term on his own will.
The post of the Acting Head of Derbent was offered to Gadjimet Safaraliev, 65, a State Duma MP.
Milrad Fatullaev, the director general of the RIA "Derbent", believes that Safaraliev is not a temporary figure, because he is backed up by certain people who, according to the journalist, earlier were "hosts" of the city.
At the same time, a source from the administration of Derbent told the "Caucasian Knot" that Safaraliev is a temporary figure, who "will be able to hide from the federal government the drawbacks of the preparation process for the jubilee of the city."
"I doubt that in the end Safaraliev will take the post of Mayor. Yes, on the one hand, here they settle the Lezgin problem, since it is believed that the Mayor should be a Lezgin; but I'm not sure that Safaraliev will cope with the duties of the Mayor. He's not an executive manager, and, staying in Moscow, he knows little about the situation in Derbent," said the source.
