French company makes scarves with Circassian patterns
The French company 'Hermes', engaged in production of fashion clothes, has made a line of scarves "Caucasian Horsemen". To start the line, employees of the company visited Nalchik and studied objects of national culture of Kabardians.
Laurent Flishi, the rector of the Catholic parish in the village of Blagoveschenka in the Prokhladnensky District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had earlier appealed to "Hermes" for help.
"The 'Hermes' company, like many other large companies in France, has a fund through which a part of the company's profit is spent on charity," said Laurent Flishi. "Some five years ago, my friends and I sent an application to the 'Hermes' and listed a number of points, on which we needed help. They studied our application and refused to satisfy it. My friends work for the 'Hermes'. They knew that we needed help. After the official refusal to provide help to us, they continued thinking about how to help us – and suggested to make scarves with Circassian images."
Laurent Flishi said that part of the profit earned from the sale of 500 scarves was delivered by the company to the Catholic children centre situated in the above Blagoveschenka.
