Young man from Dagestan detained on Turkish-Syrian border
Turkey's militaries have detained a law student from Dagestan in the Turkish province of Hatay, when he was going to cross the Syrian border with his three companions.
A request to search for the young was sent to Turkish law enforcers by his parents, who feared that their son may try to cross the Syrian border and join the "Islamic State" (IS), recognized as a terrorist organization.
The 26-year-old student went to Turkey, saying that he was going to rest on the seashore. His parents raised the alarm when their son wrote in his SMS-message that he was resting on the seashore two kilometres off Ankara (Ankara is located in the continental part of Turkey, away from the sea and resort areas, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). Six months ago the young man joined a radical Muslim community; and some of his friends had left for Syria and joined the IS, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Turkish newspaper "Hurriet".
The search operation was carried out by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization. On July 31, the young man was handed over to his parents in the city of Trabzon.
