Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya opens case after power agents beat up local

A criminal case has been opened in Chechnya by the demand of the Prosecutor's Office into the beating of a resident of the Grozny District committed in March by a group of unidentified persons, including, according to preliminary data, a policeman. Earlier, law enforcers rejected the victim's demand to investigate the incident.

An employee of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the incident occurred on March 19, but a criminal case was opened only on July 23.

"The victim, a 55-year-old resident of the village of Pobedinskoe, said that at night on March 19 he was stopped in the village street by four men, one of whom introduced himself as a policeman and presented his ID of a MIA employee. Without any explanations, the men beat up the victim, inflicting injuries of moderate gravity stole his 750 roubles and fled," said a source from the MIA.

The persons suspected of beating the man are not established yet. The spokesman of the MIA said that if the fact of beating local resident by a policeman is confirmed, the culprit will be immediately dismissed from the police.

Let us note here that in 2015 this is not the first conflict of locals with law enforcers and power agents. Thus, on May 28, the law enforcers, who were on duty at the USE (United State Examination) centre in Chechnya beat up a 16-year-old schoolboy, breaking his nose and damaging his jaw.
