Murtazaliev's supporters report his departure from UAE to Germany

Sagid Murtazaliev, the head of the Dagestani Branch of the Russian Pension Fund (RPF) is not hiding from investigators in Dubai, but is recovering after surgery in Germany, said the participants of the press conference convened in his support.

The search was connected with the case, in which Murtazaliev and Andrei Vinogradov, the head of the Kizlyar District of Dagestan, are the suspects of involvement in murders and financing terrorism. Their supporters believe that the case is a political order.

The prosecution of Murtazaliev is backed up by people, who want to minimize his influence at the upcoming September elections; however, his supporters know no particular names, said Akhmedpasha Amirilaev, one of the organizers of the press conference.

The participants of the event said that they sent an appeal to the leadership of the country asking to clear up the situation with the criminal prosecution of Murtazaliev and Andrei Vinogradov. Otherwise, they promised to organize a large-scale protest action.

Investigation of such cases is a "normal anti-corruption work," said Alexander Khloponin, a Russian Vice-Premier and the former presidential envoy to the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). According to his story, this case will not lead to a revision of appointment of local leaders in the North Caucasus in order to reveal some criminal component in their work.
