Figurant of Amirov's case reports threats received from investigators during questioning

In Rostov-on-Don, the court that considers the case of the ex-Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov continued questioning Magomed Akhmedov, who stated that investigators had used threats to force him to testify against Amirov.

The today's session continued Magomed Akhmedov's testimony. He spoke about interrogations at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Lefortovo". In particular, he said, during questioning, investigators asked him to confess of storing and transporting two Kalashnikov submachine guns.

Akhmedov has added that he was not beaten up at Moscow SIZO; but he was threatened with life imprisonment if he rejected his earlier testimonies. According to his version, by the considered criminal case "they wanted to liquidate Amirov."

Akhmedov also said that they threatened him trying to force him to evidence against Magomed Abdulgalimov, Raip Ashikov (ex-police boss of Makhachkala) and Said Amirov. According to Akhmedov, at the SIZO, he was asked to confirm his previous statements; and they brought already pre-typed protocols of his interrogations. He said that employees of the CCE (Centre to Combat Extremism) were the authors of these protocols. He also added that he had worked as an investigator at the Kirov ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala.

The trial of Amirov's case will continue at the North-Caucasian District Military Court on July 29.
