Participants of "Unheard Voices" present more than 270 materials about people in Karabakh conflict zone

The "Unheard Voices" project unites 20 journalists highlighting the problems of people living in the Karabakh conflict zone. The project participants have presented more than 270 of such materials.

The project involves journalists and bloggers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Nagorno-Karabakh, and it is being implemented with the support of the "International Alert" and the EPNK (European Partnership for Peaceful Settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict).

On July 24-27, Tbilisi hosted a training held as a part of the project, where more than 20 journalists from the region got acquainted with the skills for preparation of photo and video materials, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Valeria Egisman, a project coordinator and a staff member of the "International Alert", has reported that "since 2011, the 'International Alert' has been cooperating with the journalists, who regularly highlight the Karabakh conflict." According to the project coordinator, the organizers seek to "unite the journalists, who are able to use their articles to acquaint readers with different characters, show the real faces and fates often hidden behind the image of "an enemy".

According to Shain Rzaev, an Azerbaijani expert of the "Unheard Voices" project, the trainings involving the project participants will improve the quality of the journalists' materials. Shain Rzaev has expressed the hope that "the project will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict."

It should be noted that the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone remains restless. The conflict parties regularly accuse each other of shelling.
