Azerbaijan reports six killed persons on border with Armenia
Five Armenian soldiers and one Azerbaijani serviceman were killed in an armed clash on the border, said the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD). Armenia denies its losses.
The MoD of Azerbaijan has stated that in the last days the opponent has violated the ceasefire regime for more than a hundred times, including committing a diversion on the border with the Gadabay District, during which Eldar Fataliev, an Azerbaijani soldier, was killed.
"In all the cases, the enemy's fire was suppressed; the diversion attempt was prevented; and the enemy had to retreat with a loss of at least five soldiers," the APA News Agency quotes the MoD of Azerbaijan.
In his turn, Artsrun Ovannisyan, the press secretary of the Minister of Defence of Armenia, said that Armenian armed forces opened fire only when necessary – in response to Azerbaijan's aggression. According to his version, last night, Azerbaijani troops committed about 160 shelling attacks, including with the use of mortars.
The actions of Armenian soldiers inflicted "human losses and material damage," to the enemy, said Ovannisyan. The Armenian party has no losses, the "News.am" writes with reference to Ovannisyan.
