Savchenko's advocates appeal against transfer of her case to court of Rostov Region
A complaint against the decision to send the case of Nadezhda Savchenko to the Donetsk City Court in the Rostov Region was lodged by her defence to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Russia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ukrainian servicewoman Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the murder of two employees of the VGTRK (All-Russian State TV and Radio Company) near Lugansk, and of illegal crossing the border. Nadezhda Savchenko, a citizen of Ukraine, was recognized by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" as a political prisoner.
In the above complaint, the advocate Nikolai Polozov tries to draw attention of Yuri Chaika, the head of the GPO, to the fact that the trial in the Rostov region "will not guarantee the safety of both the parties to the proceedings, and the audience, who are going to be present there."
The complaint also emphasized that "none of the victims is permanently living in the Rostov Region; and all the examination on the case were conducted in Moscow," the TASS reports today, citing the advocate.
In her turn, Nadezhda Savchenko has sent an appeal against the transfer of her trial in the city of Donetsk, Rostov Region, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) (where Savchenko is officially representing the interests of Ukraine) and the Head of the European Parliament. Mark Feigin, another advocate, has posted the text of the appeal in his page on the Twitter.
