Defence of Ibadullo Nabotov decides not to challenge his verdict
Relatives and advocates of Ibadullo Nabotov, an employee of the mosque located in Hungarian Warriors Street of Makhachkala, convicted of illegal possession of weapons, report that they will not appeal against the verdict.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 17 the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala ruled to put Nabotov, detained on suspicion of possessing a grenade and narcotic drugs, under house arrest. On June 11, his house arrest was extended until July 15. Throughout the whole period of detention and investigation, Nabotov's relatives and defenders complained that he was under permanent pressure. Finally, Nabotov agreed to have his case considered under special procedure and gave the required confession, which guaranteed him the minimum sentence. On July 10, the court found Nabotov guilty and sentenced him to 6 months of freedom deprivation.
According to Askhab Djaparov, his advocate, despite the fact that he still doubts of his client storing a grenade, he is not planning to appeal against the verdict.
A source close to Nabotov said, on condition of anonymity, that "they felt it pointless" to appeal against the court judgment.
"If not for the alleged 'confessions' as to the possession of the grenade, the sentence would have been much tougher. Nabotov is innocent, but investigators have no retrace and never recognize their mistakes," said the source.
Let us remind you that earlier the heads of the above mosque in Makhachkala, where the convict had worked, treated Nabotov's detention as illegal, and the case against him – as fabricated.
