Yerevan protesters to continue acts of civil disobedience

Yerevan activists, who are protesting against the increase of the electricity tariff, have announced a new series of rallies and marches. Today, they intend to organize a protest action at the president's residence.

"If the decision is not made before August 1, we'll continue our acts of disobedience until the state initiates criminal cases against all the officials guilty of bringing the country's energy system to the collapse," the "Interfax" quotes David Sanasaryan, a member of the coordination group.

According to his story, activists have formed a new protest movement called "Arise, Armenia!"

In their turn, the members of the "Constituent Parliament" plan to hold a series of day-and-night protest actions in Freedom Square from July 31 to August 8.

As stated by Maxim Sargsyan, a member of the initiative group "No to robbery!", initiation of criminal cases on the fact of use of violence against journalists at night on June 23 is not enough. He believes that it is necessary to bring to justice those policemen, who used violence during detention of demonstrators.

Gagik Egiazaryan, a member of the group "Un from Knees, Armenia!", has noted that his group added two more demands to already declared ones – to hold accountable the bosses of the "Armenian Electricity Grids" and to disband the Commission on Regulation of Public Services.
