Resident of Chechnya arrested on suspicion of involvement in Syrian conflict
Chechen law enforcers have arrested a resident of the Chechen city of Urus-Martan, who deported from Turkey after being detained on the border with Syria. According to the spokesman of the Investigating Department (ID) for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the arrested man was in the same group with the earlier detained Muslim Akhmaev.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6, the Urus-Martan City Court ruled to arrest Muslim Akhmaev, 32, for two months. According to investigators, Akhmaev, together with a student of the Moscow State University Varvara Karaulova, was among the Russians detained in Turkey at an attempt to get to the territory of Syria.
Today, the spokesman of the above ID of the ICRF told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the detention and arrest of Magomed Gairsultanov, a resident of Urus-Martan. "Magomed Gairsultanov was in the same group with Muslim Akhmaev," said the official.
The detained young man is a close friend of Muslim Akhmaev, a resident of Urus-Martan named Khasan told the "Caucasian Knot". "Muslim Akhmaev's neighbour was also arrested, who was with him in Turkey, and, as they say, was on his way to war in Syria either. He was extradited from Turkey a few days ago; and when he came home, he was arrested," said Khasan.
