Ecologist Vladimir Kimaev released in Sochi

The ecologist Vladimir Kimaev, who was released today in Adler (district of Sochi) after his administrative arrest, has begun preparing, together with Anna Gritsevich, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, a number of applications demanding to bring policemen to justice.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that ecologist Vladimir Kimaev and Anna Gritsevich were detained on June 29 during the police raid to the village of Chereshnya, where local residents protested against a landfill organized after the flood in Sochi on June 25. They were charged with disobeying policemen. In the evening, the detainees were released on recognizance to appear at the court. On July 6, the court arrested Gritsevich for three days; the same punishment was imposed on Kimaev on July 7.

"Anna and I have claims to the persons involved in our illegal detention, falsification of documents against us, our sentencing, and to those who organized a hazardous for people's life and health dump in a residential village, 300 meters off the local school. Therefore today, in order not to lose time, immediately after my release, we've begun writing complaints with the help of the advocate Alexander Popkov," Vladimir Kimaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Vladimir Kimaev, he is also interested in the personality of the Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov, who, according to the activist, gave an order to destroy the nature by making an illegal dump, instead of organizing a competent waste disposal after the flooding and choosing the right place.

The dump in the village of Chereshnya, as evidenced by Kimaev, continues growing and threatens the life and health of the people living there.
