Sochi residents rally against high-rise construction in Khosta District

In Sochi, people held a sanctioned rally against high-rise construction in the Khosta District. The rally was attended by about 100 people.

Today, the protest action has been held from 12:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. in the Khosta District. It was held in connection with complaints and concerns expressed by the Sochi residents regarding the high-rise construction in the Khosta District. This was reported by Igor Vasiliev, the organizer of the protest action, the leader of the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF).

In the course of the rally, the protestors have adopted a resolution, signed it and sent it to the law enforcement agencies.

"We should stop illegal construction works that are dangerous to lives and health of residents and visitors of Sochi. The authorities are to listen to our demands," said Lyudmila Goryaeva, an activist of the Khosta District.

None of the officials invited to meet with the protesters did appear at the rally, and the protesters expressed their distrust to them and demanded to terminate their powers. In their resolution, the protestors have also expressed their distrust to Anatoly Pakhomov, the Mayor of Sochi, and the authorities of the Khosta District, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 21, Khosta residents blocked the construction of a high-rise building, which was launched by a private developer in the protected area. The action was attended by about 15 persons.  On the same day Yuri Boradachov, Deputy Head of the Khosta District, declared the construction illegal.
