Starodubets states refusal to investigate his beating in Dagestan (+video)

The beaten and kidnapped blogger Vyacheslav Starodubets has held a solo picket in Makhachkala trying to attract authorities' attention to the investigation of his case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vyacheslav Starodubets, the author of the popular page "Pearl of the South" about Derbent in the social network Facebook, the former coordinator of the project "My Derbent", and an employee of the press service of the Museum-Nature Reserve "Naryn-Kala", was beaten up on April 5 in Derbent by some people wearing masks. He was hospitalized with bruises and haematomas and claimed that he associated the attack on him with a number of resonant posts in his blog, where he wrote about corruption in the leadership of the Derbent.

The Council for Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of Russia asked the Public Prosecutor of Dagestan to take the investigation into the attack on Starodubets under his personal control.

After the beating of Starodubets, a criminal case was opened under the articles of "Deliberate causing of serious harm to one's health by a group of persons" and "Unlawful deprivation of one's liberty committed by a group of persons using violence dangerous for the life and health of the victim."

Starodubets has noted that investigators refuse to provide him with the materials of his criminal case. The blogger is going to hold his picket every day from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., until steps are taken to investigate the attack on him.
