Sochi authorities pay compensation to 262 flooding victims
A group of 262 residents of Sochi, victims of the severe flooding, have received compensation payments through the banks of the city, said Irina Romanets, a Deputy Mayor. The city is still under the emergency regime.
On June 25, Sochi was affected by heavy rains; as a result, a part of the city was flooded. On June 26, the Ministry of Public Health announced 13 hospitalized persons; one person was found dead. Hundreds of houses were flooded.
On June 29, Victor Filonov, the First Deputy Mayor of Sochi, said that all the water had been pumped out of all the flooded houses. Earlier, the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory assured that all the victims would receive compensation for the actual suffered damage.
Today, Irina Romanets, the Deputy Mayor for Social Matters, said that the city authorities have transferred, through the banks, 333 payments to 262 flooding victims. According to her story, all the victims of the flooding will receive 10,000 roubles each; those who lost part of their property will receive 50,000 roubles; and those, whose all property was spoiled, will receive 100,000 roubles each.
Ms Romanets has noted that first of all compensations will be paid to those, whose documents are ready. According to her version, there are three categories of victims: Sochi residents who lost their housing; those, who partially lost their housing; and tourists.
