Gimry Tunnel closed in Dagestan

Traffic through the Gimry Tunnel is closed in connection with the special operation carried out in the Untsukul District of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that tonight, in the Untsukul District, not far from the village of Gimry, a shootout occurred in the course of the special operation carried out by law enforcers. During the special operation, two suspected militants and a soldier were killed. At 3:00 a.m. Moscow time, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Untsukul and neighbouring Buynaksk Districts.

"Starting from 4:00 a.m. of June 23, traffic through the Gimry Tunnel is closed in connection with the CTO carried out in the Untsukul District. The Gimry Tunnel will be opened as soon as the CTO regime in the Untsukul District is cancelled," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Sabina Alieva, the press officer of the Agency for Transport and Roads of Dagestan.

According to local residents, starting from 04:00 a.m., a combat action involving heavy vehicles and aircrafts is underway on the outskirts of the village of Gimry.
