Tbilisi Zoo Director summoned to Prosecutor's Office for questioning

Investigators decided to question Zurab Gurielidze, the Tbilisi Zoo Director, and his deputies in the case of the tiger's attack on a person.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that a tiger killed a person in the territory adjacent to the former swimming pool "Laguna Vere", not far from the Tbilisi Zoo. The predator was killed in a special operation.

As a result of the flooding in Tbilisi, the city zoo was completely flooded, and a lot of animals, including predators, ran into the streets. It was reported that in total, at least 300 of 600 zoo animals were killed as a result of the flooding.

The tiger killed a man in the premises of the warehouse located opposite the zoo. The predator was hiding in the territory of the studio for several days. This was stated by Georgy Kobuladze, a staff member of the company, who witnessed the incident.

Mindiya Djanelidze, the Chairman of the Georgian Council for State Security and Crisis Management, believes that the administration of the zoo bears responsibility for the death of the man because of the provision of incorrect information. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the investigation into the fact of negligence is underway.

Zurab Gurielidze, the Tbilisi Zoo Director, has declared that he takes responsibility for the incident. "Unfortunately, the fact is that the tiger, which we believed dead, appeared to be alive and hidden in one of the buildings," the "Georgia-Online" quotes the Tbilisi Zoo Director as saying.

According to the information as of June 17, 17 persons fell victim to the disaster, and five persons were put on the list of the disappeared persons.
