In Sochi, cheated real estate investors occupy unfinished buildings

In Sochi, cheated real estate investors have occupied apartments at the unfinished residential complex "Jamaica" deprived of electricity and water supply, sewerage system, and heating units. At the upper floors, the people placed posters with the demands to the local and federal authorities to solve the protestors' problems.

The cheated real estate investors of the concern "Vant" started their protest action at 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on June 10. The protestors hung the posters with the slogans reading: "Pakhomov, follow the Putin's instructions!", "SOS! Putin! We are homeless in our own country!" "President, listen to your people!"

Anna Minosyan, a real estate investor from Siberia, believes that "Russian President Vladimir Putin is not aware of the lawlessness of Sochi officials"; however, "while travelling along the federal highway, he will be able to read about the problems of real estate investors and help them in solving their problem."

Sergey Konovalov from Krasnodar and Anatoly Taran from Moscow said that they had bought apartments at the residential complex "Jamaica" eight years ago. According to them, developer Valery Chabanov from Rostov-on-Don "embezzled the real estate investors' money and fled abroad." Both real estate investors have to rent apartments in Sochi.

"The Sochi authorities have cheated us. You cannot face such lawlessness like in Sochi anywhere else in the country," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Oksana Fedorova, a real estate investor from Kirov. "At present, the authorities pretend that they are not aware of the situation and that they allegedly cannot find Valery Chabanov and his property to arrest it and repay his debts to us. However, we do not believe them. We have already understood that in Sochi, one hand washes the other. The courts, the prosecutor's office, the police, and the city administration cover up each other's tracks," Oksana Fedorova believes.
