Mother of ex-judge Dmitry Novikov holds picket in Rostov-on-Don

In Rostov-on-Don, Tamara Novikova, the mother of Dmitry Novikov, the former Judge of the Khosta District Court of Sochi, held a picket in defence of her son.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Dmitry Novikov became involved in several criminal cases as a defendant. He himself and his advocates treat criminal proceedings against him as illegitimate. The term of the preliminary investigation into the cases against Dmitry Novikov has been repeatedly extended. On June 5, Tamara Novikova held a picket in front of the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory. According to the woman, she decided to hold a picket after her son began to receive threats of tightening of the pre-trial restriction measure.

On June 8, Tamara Novikova held another picket in front of the building of the Investigating Department for the Southern Federal District (SFD) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). The woman demanded to cancel the pre-trial restriction measure against her son. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Tamara Novikova herself.

According to the woman, the investigation into her son's case has been going on for five years already, and in accordance with recognizance not to live, Dmitry Novikov shall stay in Krasnodar at the place of his mother's residence, although Dmitry Novikov and his family members live and are registered in Moscow.

While Tamara Novikova held her picket, Nadezhda Abramchenko, a public defender of Dmitry Novikov, examined the materials of the criminal case in the presence of an investigator. "I have filed more than 100 motions and complaints … to the Prosecutor's Office about the fact that the criminal case is far-fetched and contains no facts. However, no one responds to my motions and complaints, and we are refused in further investigation to reveal the facts," Nadezhda Abramchenko has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
