JMG's staff members out of danger

Four staff members of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) of the Committee against Torture, which office in Grozny was attacked by unidentified men in masks, are out of danger. This was reported by one of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, in Grozny, during the rally in front of the office of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG), unidentified men smashed the car of the rights defenders and destroyed the JMG's office and apartment. Its staff members managed to escape.

"They are in a safe place, alive and well. They got no serious injuries, but only insignificant abrasions. They got abrasions when they were jumping from the window of the apartment located on the first floor of the house. We are in contact with them; however, the communication channel is not completely secure, so we cannot connect them directly with you," said Oleg Khabibrakhmanov, a staff member of the Committee against Torture in Nizhny Novgorod.

According to Oleg Khabibrakhmanov, the current whereabouts of the staff members of the Joint Mobile Group "is not reported for the reason of their safety."

40 people were detained after the pogrom at the office of the Joint Mobile Group of the Committee against Torture in Grozny, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports with reference to the spokesperson of the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
