Deni Mirzoev arrested in courtroom

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow has ruled to arrest, until July 22, a resident of Chechnya Deni Mirzoev, who is accused of committing a fatal road accident.

On May 22, a car with Chechen state license plates hit a biker, who was standing at the curb of Kutuzovsky Avenue. According to investigators, the car was driven by Deni Mirzoev, who was hospitalized after the road traffic accident. On the same day, several hundred bikers approached the building of the Moscow Police and filed a complaint demanding to carry out the investigation into the road traffic accidents. On May 23, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow received a motion from the investigating authorities to take Deni Mirzoev in custody. On May 24, the doctors' opinion reported on impossibility to bring the defendant to the court. The court has returned the motion for the arrest to the investigators.

Let us remind you that today the above Tverskoy District Court of Moscow has received the investigation materials about the choice of Deni Mirzoev's freedom restriction measure.

Today, the spokesman for the investigation said that Mirzoev "had voluntarily left the health facility, where he was treated after the accident."

"Besides, Mirzoev is not registered in Moscow; therefore, his participation in investigatory actions is not guaranteed. He may escape from the investigation, put pressure on the victims, or conceal the evidence," said the investigator and asked the court to "arrest Deni Mirzoev for two months, for the period of the preliminary investigation, that is, until July 22 this year."

Mirzoev's defence has objected; however, his advocate made no request for releasing him under recognizance not to leave or put him under house arrest.

The court has spent about an hour to make the decision under which Deni Mirzoev will stay in a Moscow SIZO (pre-trial prison) until July 22.
