Advocate claims non-admission to residents of Dagestan detained during CTO

Murad Velikhanov, an advocate of Raviz Djafarov and Alim Balikhanov, residents of Dagestan, detained during a counterterrorist operation (CTO), has complained about non-admission to his clients. According to the advocate, at least five persons were detained during the counterterrorist operation carried out in the two districts of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 17, a CTO regime was introduced in the Kurakh and Suleiman-Stalsky Districts of Dagestan. The reason for the introduction of the CTO regime was the murder of Zeinudin Batmanov, a local forester, a 48-year resident of the village of Ikra. In the Kurakh District, two residents of the village of Ikra, including a school teacher, were detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting militants. The CTO regime was cancelled on May 22.

On May 18, in the village of Orta-Stal of the Suleiman-Stalsky District, Raviz Djafarov was detained in the house of his parents. This was reported by Elnara Nuralieva, a detainee's sister. According to her, law enforcers do not allow his advocate visiting him.

According to Elnara Nuralieva, Raviz Djafarov "is not involved in the armed underground." "The only thing about him that can draw the police's attention to him is that he prays during five years already," the sister of the arrested man has said.

On May 18, according to advocate Murad Velikhanov, at least five persons were detained in the district.

Earlier, the militants have not confirmed their involvement in the murder of the forester. The victim was killed by men in camouflage, who were not local militants. This was reported by one of the websites supporting the armed underground in Dagestan.
