Resident of Chechnya detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting militants
In Chechnya, the police detained a resident of the Nadterechny District on suspicion of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the detainee used to buy clothes and medicines for members of the armed underground.
A 24-year-old resident of the village of Gvardeiskoe of the Nadterechny District was detained at home in the course of operational and search activities.
During interrogation, the detainee admitted that in the period from spring 2013 to autumn 2014, he rendered assistance to the IAF members: bought clothes, medicines and medical equipment for them, the Chechen MIA's website report.
The detainee was released. He is obliged to visit the police station. The issue of opening a criminal case in under consideration, the MIA reports.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported on other cases of detention of residents of Chechnya on suspicion of aiding and abetting members of the armed underground. So, on May 20, a 29-year-old resident of the city of Urus-Martan was detained at home; on May 18, in Grozny, the police detained a 27-year-old native of the village of Gvardeiskoe of the Nadterechny District; on May 12, a 37-year-old resident of the village of Koshlekldy of the Grozny District was detained; and on April 27, the police detained a resident of the Vedeno District of Chechnya.
