Former special forces officer appointed new chief of North-Caucasian VOGOiP

Police Colonel Vladimir Alai has been appointed the chief of the Temporary Operational Group of Agencies and Units (known as VOGOiP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Northern Caucasus. He took the place left vacant after Igor Romashkin had been promoted to the post of the Minister of Internal Affairs for Kabardino-Balkaria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 9, Police Major General Igor Romashkin, which used to hold the post of the deputy chief of the MIA's Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), the head of the Russian MIA's VOGOiP, was appointed the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

On May 20, Vladimir Alai was presented to personnel and heads of the Temporary Operational Group of Agencies and Units in Northern Caucasus.

According to the spokesperson of the military commandant's office of Kabardino-Balkaria, Vladimir Alai has extensive experience in the law enforcement agencies, since he has been serving in the MIA since 1981. He was awarded the Order of Courage, the Medal "For Courage", and he graduated from several higher educational institutions.

Prior to his transfer to Northern Caucasus, Vladimir Alai had repeatedly visited the North-Caucasian region to fulfil combat assignments.

It should be noted that the personnel of the Temporary Operational Group of Agencies and Units in Northern Caucasus deployed in Khankala took part in the special operation carried out by the Stavropol police in the territory of Chechnya, which ended with the murder of Djambulat Dadaev and which was criticized by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
