Two local residents detained in CTO zone in Dagestan

A school teacher of the school in Kutulskoe village and an unemployed local resident have been detained by law enforcers in the counterterrorist operation (CTO) zone in the Kurakh District of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 17, a CTO regime was introduced in the Kurakh and Suleiman-Stalsky Districts of Dagestan. The reason for the CTO was the murder of Zeinudin Batmanov, a local forester, a 48-year resident of the village of Ikra. Military vehicles are deployed In the vicinity of the village, and law enforcers carry out targeted inspections and comb the area.

According to a local resident, during the special operation, law enforcers detained two residents of the village of Ikra. Gamid Abdulfatakhov, the head of the Ikra village administration, has confirmed the information. According to him, the detainees are suspected of involvement in extremist activities.

According to investigators, the attackers were going to seize their car; however, the forester came when he heard the child's cry. A quarrel took place, and when the armed men learned that the man standing in front of them was the forester, they killed him, since they believed that he helped the law enforcement bodies. The suspects are members of the southern subversive and terrorist grouping led by Gasan Abdulaev.

In general, according to Fikret Medetov, the head of the administration of the Kurakh District, the situation in the area is calm.

Earlier, militants did not confirm their involvement in the murder of the forester.
