Residents of North Ossetia sentenced for arms trafficking

In North Ossetia, the court has recognized four residents of the Alagir District guilty of smuggling and selling weapons to Kabardino-Balkaria. According to investigators, the men sold grenade launchers, submachine guns, pistols, and ammunition.

According to the FSB Department for Kabardino-Balkaria, the activities of the criminal grouping were stopped as a result of the joint operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of North Ossetia. Upon inspection of houses and cars of criminals, law enforcers found four firearms and more than 100 rounds.

"In 2014, Tamerlan Marzoev, Arthur Khosroev, Valery Kutarov, and Taimuraz Akopov, residents of North Ossetia, illegally transported to Kabardino-Balkaria significant quantity of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices," the "Interfax" reports with reference to the FSB Department for Kabardino-Balkaria.

The court sentenced all members of the criminal grouping to various terms of imprisonment. The maximum penalty stipulated under those articles is six years of imprisonment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on January 24, the police detained two residents of the village of Tarskoe in North Ossetia on suspicion of selling a Kalashnikov submachine gun, a double-barrelled shotgun, and a fuse of fragmentation hand grenades.
