Chechnya announces date of wedding ceremony for Kheda Goylabieva

On May 16, Nazhud Guchigov, the chief of the ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Nozhai-Yurt District of Chechnya, and 17-year-old Kheda (Louiza) Goylabieva are to get married. This was reported by Kheda Saratova, the head of the independent news agency "Objective".

"Tomorrow, the sensational couple is to marry!" Kheda Saratova wrote on her Facebook page.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechnya was agitated by the messages that a 17-year-old young woman was forced to marry Nazhud Guchigov, the 46-year-old chief of the ROVD of the Nozhai-Yurt District. The authorities denied the violation of the young woman's rights; however, local residents report on widespread arbitrariness of Chechen officials in such situations.
