Experts release data about resistance of Avetisyan family to the killer
The forensic medical and genetic examinations have proved that the members of the Avetisyan family, massacred in Gyumri, tried to repel the killer, the advocates of the family's successors have stated today.
At night on January 12, 2015, in Gyumri, an attack on the Avetisyan family was undertaken – six family members were killed on the spot; and on January 19, the only survival in the attack – Sergey Avetisyan, a 6-month-old baby, died from received wounds in hospital. A conscript-soldier from Russia Valery Permyakov is accused of committing the mass murder. According to investigators, he has pled guilty.
Sergey Avetisyan, the head of the family, most probably, resisted the killer. This, according to the advocate Lusine Sahakyan, is confirmed by the fact that Sergey's body had scratches that could have been inflicted with a knife.
Lusine Sahakyan has added that, according to the DNA analysis, the blood found on the butt and the barrel of the submachine gun, which was used for killing, coincided with the blood sample of Sergey Avetisyan.
"Perhaps, Sergey Avetisyan grabbed the barrel of the gun; and the killer hit him with the butt," said Lusine Sahakyan.
Armen, another member of Avetisyan family, was found shot dead on the floor. According to Sahakyan, "perhaps, he managed to get out of his bed."
Lusine Sahakyan has added that resistance was also rendered by Armen's wife Araksiya Pogosyan, in whose hands her six-month-old baby Sergey Avetisyan was found.
"Araksiya was trying to cover the baby with her body. Her arm had stab wounds. Similar stab wounds were found on the baby's body," said the advocate.
