Darya Polyudova arrested in Krasnodar for 10 days

On May 9, activist Darya Polyudova was detained by the police while she was distributing leaflets criticizing the policy of the Russian President. The activist is arrested for 10 days.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Darya Polyudova, one of the organizers of the failed march for federalization of Kuban, is accused of inciting extremism and disintegration of Russia. On February 25, after six months spent in custody, Darya Polyudova was released from the SIZO (pre-trial prison) on recognizance not to leave.

During the festivities in the Cossack village of Poltavskaya held on May 9, Darya Polyudova was distributing leaflets with the slogans reading: "No war with Ukraine" and "Victory Day!" This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" by Krasnodar activist Viktor Chirikov.

"She had only four leaflets when policemen approached her and took her away with them to the police station. They voiced no charges against her," Viktor Chirikov has said. He has added that Darya Polyudova was kept at the police station until the evening, and then she was brought to court.

According to Viktor Chirikov, till present, friends and relatives of Darya Polyudova know nothing about the accusations against her, and the police refuse to disclose the information. The Krasnodar activist has added that until the evening of May 9, the relatives and friends of Darya Polyudova were not aware of her detention and arrest.

Viktor Chirikov has reported that Darya Polyudova, who is serving her administrative arrest, has declared a hunger strike to protest against her detention and refuses to accept packages. Viktor Chirikov has added that Darya Polyudova had no communications with her relatives and that her advocate Andrei Sabinin has left for vacation.
