Power agents block centre of Grozny

In the evening on May 8, reinforced military and police posts were deployed in the central streets of Grozny in connection with the upcoming military parade.

The administration of the Chechen capital has reported that residents of Grozny had been notified in advance that the city centre will be closed for passage.

Since morning of May 9, Putin Avenue marked accumulation of armoured and special vehicles-participants of the military parade; its start was scheduled for 10 in the morning.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the May 8 rehearsal of the Victory Day military parade in central Grozny resulted, according to local residents, to traffic collapse in city streets.

On May 8, a general rehearsal of the military parade was held in central Grozny. Students of Grozny universities stated that they were forced to take part in the event. Students say that their mandatory participation in public events has actually become a part of their duties.

Let us note here that reports about forced participation of residents of Chechnya in mass actions held in the country come on the regular basis. This, in particular, was reported by some participants of the May Day actions and preceding Subbotniks.
