Defence witness in Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's case denied entry into USA

A Russian citizen invited to testify for the defence in the case against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was denied the entry to the US by the FBI because of his possible association with extremists.

According to investigators, Johar Tsarnaev, a native of Chechnya, and his brother Tamerlan, who was killed during the detention, organized the terror act during the Boston Marathon in 2013. On April 8, Johar Tsarnaev was found by the jury guilty of all 30 charges filed against him.

Today, the American "ABC" TV Channel has reported with reference to the FBI that "several Russian citizens were invited to arrive in the United States to testify in defence of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, an organizer of the terror act during the Boston Marathon." However, the exact number of the defence witnesses has not been disclosed.

At the Boston airport, one of the witnesses was denied to the US by border guards, after he admitted that he "used to fight on the side of the Islamists in the southern regions of Russia", the RIA "Novosti" quotes the American "ABC" TV Channel as reporting.

"He claimed that he used to fight on the side of the militants in the woods and was under surveillance. He was put on a flight back to Russia," a source in the FBI has reported.

As far as other witnesses arrived from Russia to testify in the case against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, then, according to the FBI, they are in one of the Boston hotels "under house arrest" and all their movements are monitored by FBI agents. Besides, so-called "electronic bracelets" are secured on their feet to allow the US law enforcement bodies to monitor their movements around-the-clock, the "TASS" reports with reference to the American "ABC" TV Channel.
