In Yerevan, participants of May Day rally demand to respect workers' rights

At the May Day demonstration, activists of the "Gnchak" Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of Armenia criticized the policy of the Armenian authorities. The activists demanded to respect the workers' rights.

The participants of the rally were holding in their hands posters with demands to pay decent wages, respect the eight-hour schedule and the right to rest, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Aram Sarkisyan, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia, has criticized the government for inefficient use of natural resources by foreign companies. He has also claimed that the authorities spend international loans for other purposes than once declared.

"Of about 5 billion US dollars, 200 million US dollars were spent for the economic transformation. We need a change of the government and the whole existing system; it is necessary to form a new republic without robbery, corruption, and oligarchs," Aram Sarkisyan has declared in his speech.

In his turn, Narek Galstyan, the Chairman of the "Gnchak" Social Democratic Party, has claimed that the authorities have failed to respect the social rights of citizens provided by the Constitution of Armenia.
