Police stops "Communists of Russia" from taking part in pro-government rally

The Stavropol police have driven activists of the "Communist of Russia" Party away from the pro-government rally dedicated to May 1, said Mikhail Abramyan, the second secretary of the Stavropol branch of the party.

He explained that he had tried to coordinate the participation of the "Communists of Russia" with the trade unions, which were the organizers of the May Day rally in Stavropol on the Fortress Hill. "However, union leaders refused from any dialogue with our party. Then, we have decided to come to the rally on our own and take part in the May Day holiday, since it’s a universal holiday for our country, for all its citizens," Mikhail Abramyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, in the morning on May 1, ten members of the party came to the rally, but the area was cordoned off by the police. Everywhere they saw fencing and metal detectors. Policemen warned communists at the entrance about the inadmissibility of any posters against the government and the governor of the Stavropol Territory.
