Under the amnesty on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, South Ossetia will pardon and release 10 earlier convicted citizens of the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 10 Leonid Tibilov, President of South Ossetia, offered the parliament to declare amnesty in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory; and on April 29 the parliament approved the Amnesty Act – the first since June 2012.
Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about the number of those pardoned from a source from the Ministry of Justice of South Ossetia, who added that the list includes a citizen of the republic, who had been convicted in the territory of Russia, but later transferred to Corrective Colony No. 1 in Tskhinvali.
Besides, the amnesty will stop eight criminal cases pending before the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO). About ten more inmates, convicted for crimes of medium severity, will have reduced terms of punishment, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the GPO.
