HRC head calls on to release Novorossiysk dancers

Today, Mikhail Fedotov, the head of the Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC), has called on to release the young women, who danced near the WWII memorial museum "Malaya Zemlya" (Small Land) in Novorossiysk.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 24, social groups on the Internet disseminated a video record, in which the young women of the Novorossiysk dance studio performed a twerk dance near the WWII memorial complex "Malaya Zemlya". The law enforcement authorities treated the dance as "disorderly conduct" and arrested the dancers for 10-15 days.

"I am calling on to make a decision on the early release of those young women from detention in connection with the decision of the State Duma on amnesty," Mikhail Fedotov has said.

According to him, the young women realized their fault, since they did not appeal against their arrest. "We should be wise with respect of those young women and think about their future. I am calling on to demonstrate humanism," the "Interfax" quotes the head of the HRC as saying.

Earlier, Sergey Ivanov, the head of the presidential administration, has said that he considers that unethical to choose the place near the memorial "Malaya Zemlya" in Novorossiysk for the performance of the dance, the TASS reports.
