In Yerevan, the memorial complex to the victims of the Armenian Genocide "Tsitsernakaberd" started a ceremony of remembrance of the people killed during the events of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and the Armenian Diaspora mark the day of April 24 as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923. The year of 2015 marks the 100th anniversary since the beginning of that tragic event. The Armenian Genocide was recognized by more than 20 countries.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his wife Rita meet members of official delegations near the memorial "Tsitsernakaberd", the "Interfax" reports.

The President of Armenia escorted by the guards of honour was approached by members of the delegations from Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Japan, India, Slovenia, Portugal, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Denmark.

Yerevan also welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tomislav Nikolic, the President of Serbia. It is expected that the events will be attended by Francois Hollande and Nicos Anastasiades, the leaders of France and Cyprus, respectively, the "Armenia Today" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that more than 40 bikers from the USA, Lebanon, Germany, and Iran arrived in Armenia on their bikes to take part in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
