Parliaments of Armenia and NKR urge international community to recognize Armenian Genocide
In connection with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, MPs of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) adopted appeals calling on all countries throughout the world to recognize the Armenian Genocide as a crime against humanity.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the date of April 24 was declared the Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-2023. The year of 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of that tragic event. The Armenian Genocide was recognized by more than 20 countries. The Turkish side has its own view on the events of 1915. According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), "experts can study the history of the Turkish and Armenian nations only on the basis of impartial scientific evidence."
The press service of the National Assembly of Armenia has reported that, according to the MPs' appeal, the Armenian Parliament calls on all countries to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide as a serious crime against humanity.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in 2015, the NKR plans to hold more than 30 official events, including the opening of the monument representing a bell tower and a torchlight procession on April 24, the NKR's government reports.
