MCC upholds arrests of two defendants in Boris Nemtsov's case

The Moscow City Court (MCC) has dismissed the advocates' appeals against the resolutions on arrests of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev, accused in the case of the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov. The Court has refused to change pre-trial restriction measure against both defendants and replace it with the form not involving deprivation of liberty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the defence of Shagid Gubashev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov has appealed to the Moscow City Court against the decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to arrest the defendants in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder.

On April 22, the Moscow City Court left Tamerlan Eskerkhanov in custody until April 28.

"My client suffers from absence of one kidney. However, he is not provided with sufficient volume of water, and he is deprived of medical care," said Roza Magomedova, an advocate of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov. She asked the court to release her client on bail or place him under house arrest.

The prosecutor found that impossible to release Tamerlan Eskerkhanov from custody, since the defendant was accused of a serious crime.

The Moscow City Court then considered the appeal filed by the defence of Shagid Gubashev, the other defendant in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder.

The defendant pleaded not guilty; however, a member of the investigative team called the defence's arguments groundless.
