Defence treats verdict in case of Sheikh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi's murder as too severe

Advocates of residents of Dagestan sentenced in the case of the terror act, which killed Sheikh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi, have called the verdict too severe and claimed numerous contradictions in the case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Shikhmirza Labazanov, Magomedali Amirkhanov, and Magomed Gadjiev were accused of training Aminat Saprykina, a suicide bomber, to commit the terror act of August 28, 2012. Besides, they were also accused of acts of banditry and arms trafficking. Akhmed Israpilov, the fourth defendant in the case, was accused of acts of banditry, arms trafficking, and kidnapping for ransom. Today, Shikhmirza Labazanov, Magomedali Amirkhanov, and Magomed Gadjiev have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Akhmed Israpilov has been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment.

The advocates of all four defendants in the case have declared their disagreement with the verdict. Rinat Gamidov, the defender of Shikhmirza Labazanov, has reported that the appeal will be filed after he examines the full text of the verdict.

According to Nurmagomed Magomedov, the advocate of Akhmed Israpilov, the confession of his client was obtained through physical violence and psychological pressure.
