Exhibits of City History Museum are on display in Yerevan
Yerevan has opened an exhibition "Remember and Demand; Revival", dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
On April 16, the opening ceremony at the Mayoralty was attended by the Mayor Taron Margaryan, the Parliament Vice-Speaker Ermine Nagdalyan, MPs and other high-ranking officials.
All the exhibits were provided to the exposition by the Yerevan City History Museum. According to Armine Sarkisyan, the director of the museum, the exhibition consists of four sections.
"The first section shows Yerevan before 1915; the second one – presents materials about forced migrants and orphans," Ms Sarkisyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to her story, the third section tells the story of repatriates; and the fourth one, called "Revival", presents material on liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The exhibition in the Mayoralty will function until April 30; after which the exhibits will be returned to the History Museum and displayed until the end of the year.
The year of 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923. Armenian Genocide was recognized by more than 20 countries. The Turkish side has its own opinion towards the events of 1915. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Turkey notes that "experts can study the common history of Turkish and Armenian nations only on the basis of impartial scientific evidence."
