Sochi Court refuses to explain Saveliev family decision to demolish house
The Adler District Court of Sochi has refused to explain the Saveliev family its decision, under which the family was obliged to dismantle other people's building.
The Savelievs had been evicted from their barrack, where they lived in Akatsij Street; and the house was demolished to give room for the construction of M-27 Highway for Sochi Olympics. According to Lyudmila Savelieva, the head of the family, her family of five, including two small children, received neither compensation nor new housing. The family members moved into a shed and adapted it for living; however, it was found to be an illegal construction. On March 2, the Savelievs fulfilled the court ruling and demolished the shed by their own efforts. However, the court marshal, according to Alexei Saveliev, insisted on demolition of another structure, which is owned, according to Saveliev, by their neighbour.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23 Alexei Saveliev lodged a statement to Judge Roman Yazvenko asking to clarify why they should also demolish the structure they do not own.
On April 13, the judge announced his ruling to reject any further explanations.
Lyudmila Savelieva announced her intention to appeal against the ruling of the judge.
