Dagestani journalists doubt that investigators will find customers of Akhmedilov's murder

According to Dagestani journalists, after the verdict against the persons who committed the murder of journalist Abdulmalik Akhmedilov has been announced, the main challenge is to reveal the persons who ordered the crime.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abdulmalik Akhmedilov, the executive secretary of the newspaper "Istina" (Truth) and the editor of the newspaper "Sogratl", was killed in August 2009. According to prosecutors, the journalist was shot dead by Murad Shuaibov and his friend Isa Abdurakhmanov was driving a car. The both defendants pleaded not guilty. On March 30, the judge of the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala announced the verdict in the case of the murder of Abdulmalik Akhmedilov by founding the defendants guilty of the crime. Murad Shuaibov was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment, and Isa Abdurakhmanov to 8 years of imprisonment.

In the case of the Abdulmalik Akhmedilov's murder, the court "has considered only a part of the case concerning the persons who committed the murder. And it is still a big question whether investigators will be able to reveal the persons who ordered the murder of the journalist," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Magomed Magomedov, a reporter of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft).

"The results of the trial against those persons who are called the murderers of Abdulmalik Akhmedilov do not give any hope that the other cases of murders of journalists and political figures will be investigated and the real offenders will be punished," Magomed Magomedov has stated.

Earlier, Ali Kamalov, the Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Dagestan, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the defendants in the case of the Abdulmalik Akhmedilov's murder never mentioned in court the names of the persons who ordered the crime.

"They did not admit their guilty and did not mention the customer. It is likely that someone recommended them to adhere to the version of their innocence," Ali Kamalov has said.
