Buynaksk residents complain that power agents tore away poster with text from Koran

Mosque-goers report that power agents have torn away a poster with quotes of Koran verses from the wall of a mosque in Buynaksk.

In the morning on March 20, a few hours before the start of the Friday namaz (prayer), the mosque was blocked by armed men in masks, a parishioner of the Imam ash-Shafii mosque told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"At first, we thought that it would be another raid on mosque-goers, but it was even worse. Not so long ago, we attached a poster to one of the outer walls of the mosque with the text of one of Koran ayats, telling unjust acts of those, who forbid to make namaz and name Allah. Policemen tore the poster off," said a mosque-goer from Buynaksk, who introduced himself as Arsen M.

According to another parishioner of mosque in Buynaksk, which is a Salafi mosque, on March 20, power agents did not detain anyone.

"Parishioners were on their way to the mosque for Friday namaz and saw that the poster had been torn off. All of us were outraged. Someone said that we should go out for a rally, but then, as far as I know, it was decided to hold a Muslims' Majlis on March 27, where further actions will be discussed," said one of the believers.

A resident of Buynaksk suggested that policemen's actions were caused by the fact "that they took the saying from Koran to the personal account."

The actions of law enforces, if they really had torn off the poster, are illegal, said the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova. According to her story, these actions are subject to the article of "deliberate destruction or damage to property."
