Participants of media forum devoted to 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide visit Nagorno-Karabakh

About 30 journalists took part in a three-day tour to Nagorno-Karabakh within the media forum "At the Foot of Mount Ararat" devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The international media forum "At the Foot of Mount Ararat" was held in Yerevan on March 18-23. This year, it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. Participants of the media forum in Yerevan criticized the Turkey's position on the Armenian Genocide.

Residents of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and members of the Armenian Diasporas in different countries mark the date of April 24 as the Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923. At present, more than 20 states have recognized the Armenian Genocide.

The journalists included in the programme of the visit to Nagorno-Karabakh a meeting with President Bako Sahakyan, Defence Minister Movses Akopyan, and visits to museums of minerals, carpets, textile and carpet factories, and tourist attractions of the republic.

One of the main tasks in the preparation of the programme for the media forum was to introduce Armenia and Karabakh to as many journalists as possible on the eve of the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and to provide information about the genocide. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Sergey Chamanyan, the media coordinator of the directorate of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

According to Alexander Kolesnichenko, a participant of the media forum, a reporter of the newspaper "Arguments and Facts", the example of Nagorno-Karabakh "can inspire people for creative activities in other conflict zones."
